They spoke about where mobile computing is heading in the future and especially the new hard drive technology, the solid state drive (SSD).

Keith told us that Toshiba now has patents on a number of these solid state drive technologies and is introducing them into their mobile computer range.

The latest in the mobile computer range, the R500 was passed around. It is one of the thinnest computers in the world and yet it includes a DVD rewriter. The DVD is a tiny 7 mm in height.

The unit weighs a mere .999 grams, that’s 2 kilos less than my four year old Toshiba A4.
