    Hello and Welcome,

For those of you who do not subscribe to Windows Secrets, the latest issue has a very interesting review by Susan Bradley regarding the spread by big name sites of the latest malware infections. The review describes how to ascertain if you are infected or not and has information on how to rectify and protect oneself, worth the read.

    Tuesday 16 June - Seniors - Graham Grant - 10 am - 12 noon

This month we will start with the Q and A, so bring along those difficult queries and we will try and solve them.

Graham even has an answer to his Acronis hard drive problem.

Once we have completed all this we will look at some interesting computer web sites, so if any member knows of a site that they feel would be of interest to the group, please bring it along and share it with us.

    Tuesday 16 June - Genealogy - Terry Eakin - 1 pm - 3 pm

Unfortunately, Terry will not be there but he will send a paper to everyone with addresses in it for you all to help one another. Terry will be in hospital then for surgery at 2.30 pm this date (16th June) so will not be with you but he is sure you can help one another on this day. Terry will send out a file over the weekend with the links in it and some hints and help. There are now eight counties of 1911 census (people born as early as 1820s and earlier) being Dublin, Kerry, Antrim, Down, Donegal, Galway, Cork, Wexford and King's (now Offaly) counties plus Dublin and Belfast cities All available free and printable or downloadable.
Terry should be out by Wednesday (if all goes well) and back on deck to see you all at the Main Meeting the following Tuesday 23 June.

    Saturday 20 June - Web Design - Robert Hume - 2 pm - 4 pm

Usually the information for this SIG is obtained from the Web Design Website, due to a malfunction this could not be achieved, so no information is available at this time. You can be sure that Robert has something of up his sleeve!

    Tip of the Week

Secunia Secunia Personal Software Inspector - Beta Version . Although this tip was used last year, Secunia PSI has come a long way since then. This version is really comprehensive giving a larger view of the programs installed on ones machine. For those of you who have not used Secunia PSI it is an invaluable tool for you to use when assessing the security patch state of software installed on ones system. It monitors your system for insecure software installations and notifies you when an insecure application is installed.

As always this is only a tip and it is up to each of you to make his/her choice whether to use it or not.

Please remember if your e-mail address is changed for any reason at all, unless you tell me your new address then you will not receive these weekly updates! Any change of address should be notified to
