Hello and Welcome,
The Annual General Meeting of the Sydney PC Users Group will be held prior to the Main Meeting on Tuesday.
However, the main feature of the evening will be the excellent presentation arranged by  Alex Zaharov-Reutt and his message to members is below:
Tuesday 27 April  - MAIN Meeting -  5:30pm - 8:30pm
Yes, it may well be AGM Month at the Sydney PC Users Group, but we still have a stellar presenter in Richard Veale, National Training Manager at HTC.

Richard presented to us last time HTC visited us, and this time Richard's ready to rock and roll with HTC's latest and greatest devices, starting off with Australia's first ultra-mega-super-giga-wicked-fast 4G smartphone, the HTC Velocity 4G, available via Telstra.

We'll get to see just how fast the HTC Velocity is compared to "regular" 3G smartphones, and learn what other 4G goodies we can expect to see in the future, and we'll also get the see the Velocity 4G in a new form - powered by Google's latest Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" operating system, a big step up from the older 2.x versions that still grace many smartphones today.
HTC also has Android-powered tablets up its sleeve, and a bevy of beautiful Android powered smartphones to tempt consumers with, and Richard will be showcasing the best HTC has to offer.
While there's the relatively short and necessary AGM process to get through, we've definitely got a stellar presentation lined up for you to enjoy, as well as a sneak peak at what Windows 8 Consumer Preview looks like, loaded onto my now slightly older Core 2 Duo Lenovo touch-screen convertible notebook/tablet, letting you see a live Windows 8 preview demo without having to go through the fun and games of loading it onto your own computer yourself.

Finally, I've asked Richard about raffle prizes, and while he was unable to confirm anything on the phone when I spoke to him earlier today, he is putting pressure on his marketing people to come up with something nice, so if you could all cross your fingers for a few moments for me, we might get lucky and find that someone gets to walk away with a brand new smartphone of some kind while helping the group to generate some dollars to pay for room hire fees etc.

To re-iterate: there's no HTC prize I can announce as yet, but Richard is on the case, and hopefully he'll be able to organise something special, and either way, we will have prizes on the night as always.

So... looking forward to seeing you all next week at the AGM/Main Meeting for a night of peeking into Windows 8 sneak peeks, getting things done at the AGM and learning all about the latest from the high tech chaps at HTC!

John Mathews
