Hello and Welcome,
The Penrith Group meets on Saturday for their last meeting for 2013. Frank Bowman's message to members is below.
Saturday 7 December - Penrith Group - F. Bowman - 2:00pm - 5:00pm
At our last meeting, David filled us in on Debian and some freeware programs. We may follow up on this sometime in 2014, running a Debian laptop alongside a Windows 7 laptop.

We spent an enjoyable hour and an half testing a number of IDE hard disks in an old desktop computer. It seems a while since we used the terms master and slave disks, and jumper pins.

We looked at the comments made by three computer writers on the improvements made by Microsoft in Windows 8.1. Several small changes have been made but it will be take time before Windows 8.1 becomes as popular as XP or Windows 7. We've all seen this comment, "The PROBLEM is Windows 8; the SOLUTION is Windows 7".

This month we hope to use Movie Maker to make a movie using images and video footage.

As well, we will have a look at an online bulletin board, such as Padlet. We will go online to produce a professional looking column graph, and compare it to Excel's graphs.
We meet at St Clair High School, Endeavour Avenue, St Clair.
